The facial Lifting, also known as facelift or rhytidectomy, is an aesthetic surgery aimed at improving the visible signs of aging on the face and neck. It is a procedure where the excess skin of the face is removed, achieving in this way a face with less wrinkles and younger. Likewise, the facelift treats the deeper structures of the facial and neck tissues. This surgical procedure can be performed alone or in combination with a double chin, a blepharoplasty or a neck lift.
It is recommended to perform this surgery on people over 45 years of age.
The facelift reduces wrinkles, leaving a luminous and elastic skin. The scars, after the intervention, are invisible. The facelift can be done with other treatments.
Expected results and risks
The results will not be immediate, they are observed between 1 and 2 months later. The facelift is not free of risks, there is the possibility of asymmetry, scarring problems, loss of sensitivity, damage to a facial nerve and necrosis.
The facelift is divided into three areas of the face: lifting the upper third (eliminates wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows, raises the eyebrows); lifting of the middle third (eliminates crow’s feet and cheek imperfections); and the lifting of the lower third (corrects the nasolabial folds and the fall of the skin of the jaw and neck). Another facelift option is the mini-lifting consisting of small facelifts.
For any type, incisions are made on the scalp and around the eyebrows; the skin detaches and tightens, next to the facial muscles and neck. Finally, the incisions are sutured.
Cares after the intervention
The patient can only remove the bandage applied by the surgeon 48 hours after the surgery. After this period of time, the patient will have to use a chin support to sleep for 1 or 2 weeks. From the third day, you can shower normally, paying attention to the scars. The patient can resume his daily life after 6-7 days. However, the patient will have to avoid effort and driving for at least two weeks, nor will you be able to practice sports for 1 or 2 months.
Facelift is contraindicated in pregnant or lactating women. It should not be used in patients with autoimmune, systemic, cardiovascular diseases, etc. The doctor will advise you not to suffer from skin or clotting problems, as well as those who are receiving treatment and taking medications.
